Starfleet: Academy

Five seasons of 13 episodes.

Takes place in the new AU.

Five main character students last all four seasons.

Colm meaney reprises role, transporter instructor. Patrick Stewart reprises role, commandant of the academy. Ezri(or jadzia, it is an au) dax reprises role, psych warfare instructor(wormholes if jadzia). La forge reprises role, engineering instructor. Various actors reprise their roles as guest instructors. If brent spiner came back, he would play a human 'clone' of data with his positronic brain: a cyborg.

Eric Fulbright, chris pine- or young shatner-lookalike: 

son of two scientists, he's lived on an average of one planet a year since he was four while they helped with epidemics and the like.

At twelve years old, on planet ********, he accidentally takes part in a planetary ritual, a mating celebration. He impregnates two women. One woman dies in childbirth, his parents take the twins in and raise them beside their father who's still technically grounded when the series begins. Keeps on contact with daughter on ******** as well.

Later revelations reveal he is in fact the son of kirk and picard, picard's bone marrow was harvested for stem cells and turned into an ovum and impregnated by kirk's frozen baby batter(extracted while he was 'dead' in into darkness by s31 nurse on ship)

Tiana Sparkles, played by Sammi Hanratty:

A child star, the highest paid holoactor ever, after her life is saved by a starfleet officer during the dominion war, she quits performing and begins studying to attend starfleet academy.

Bisexual but lesbian identified until she meets Eric. The two are the ross and rachel of the series.

Ryan Starr, taye diggsesque actor:

Bred and trained to join starfleet, he's the perfect cadet. Fits in with everybody, no one suspects him. An operative for the Terran Empire, his duty is to infiltrate and extract intelligence for his master, his father, High Warlord Riker.

Rosaleen Reynolds, played by molly quinn:

Grew up on a transport ship called Serenity, finished two graduate degrees before she was sixteen. Her family was trapped on an asteroid for a few years leading to her ending up coming to the academy later than she planned to.

Karen Mulder, played by Nicky Whelan:

Half romulan, she's the first to attend the academy without lying about her parentage. Her father is a former diplomat and her mother was a defector he got out. Bullied and watched by sf intel, she strives to fit in and succeed.

Adults in series:

Commander diane caffrey, played by joanne kelly:

Head of section 31 in the academy, she's on the hunt for spies and traitors. Undercover as a history professor.

Lt kim pratt (male):

In charge of the wing the protags are in. Therapist, den mother, and fantastic cook. Almost always found cooking, most stop by to snag a cookie or two or whatever candies he's made.

Commander regan bridger(, played by bridget regan?!):

Archivist, in charge of the library they're assigned to. Spends most of her time reading physical books since the majority of students do research on computers.

 

Lieutenant john johnson, :

S31 operative, recruiter hidden as medic. Assigned to the wing of the dorm as the day duty nurse.

Warrant officer dane brooks:

Former athlete, head of the oc retrieval squad for the academy.  They deal with officer candidates who're drunk in public or detained by planetary security. Also in charge of the sere program.

Ensign Emma Stewart, played by Anna Popplewell:

The night time wing officer, rarely seen but when she is, is usually doing paper and pen crosswords or 100 panel sudoku.

Ryan Starr's eventual lover as he uses her security clearance and as an alibi, oft drugging her to make her think he was with her whole time.

During season one, we meet these five and nine others amongst the 213 intake

Of those fourteen, three leave by the end of year one.

Season two, one more leaves, another 'suicides.'

Season three, one is booted for cheating, a second breaks down from stress.

Season four, four more leave for various reasons including one death from starr killing and framing one of the booted students. The four mains are posted to the Enterprise E under Captain Riker after graduation and a debauched graduation party

Season five, their time on the enterprise e and the realization that the academy doesn't truly prepare you fully for shipboard lif

The turnover by the end of the four year academy time is 72%. Some join the starfleet enlisted program, others join the civilian starfleet auxiliary program, while a minority join other civilian aspects of starfleet like the diplomatic corps or the terraforming corps.

Various plot bunnies:

Section 31 is in charge of a massive cloning and breeding program to bring back the best officers as new recruits.

Section 31 hunting for starr to turn/recruit him, sf intel wanting to arrest him. Kills a student and makes it look like he was the spy and suicided to not get interrogated.

A student is caught with a professor running a cheating ring.

Students on leave scam a casino out of beaucoup latinum, ferengis send hitmen.

There Would of course have to be a holodeck ep where it breaks down and kills some red shirts.

Arcs follow whole seasons.

We see starfleet and the federation in a rebuilding phase after a disastrous war with the borg and in a cold war with the klingons and romulans united against them throughout whole series.

We see the new enterprise e preparing to warp off for shakedown.

Less applied phlebotinum and more drama since it's children transitioning into responsibilities instead of established post hormonal officers.

Kobayashi maru of course.

Perhaps an episode where a still is found and hunting down the bad girl.

Training ship episodes where it breaks down and students must save themselves.

A civilian professor is preying on her/his female students. Tiana becomes the new target.

The typical plots for college age shows: pregnancy scares, test anxieties, growing up, drugs, cheating, rivalries other institutes, and the specters of terrorism, racism, and so on.

Once a season have big guest stars, like penn and teller doing a show on campus à la the USO.
